VestaDAO Press Release: CGE, Gitcoin, and Liquidity

Vesta press release

We appreciate it has been some time since our last official update. For many in our telegram this isn’t an issue as we’ve been very active there and had many more private conversations to address any individual concerns.

We appreciate, however, that not all our holders may use telegram, and that making things “official” is important in its own right. We’d like to apologize for this lapse and, though we aren’t looking to excuse it, we hope to at least explain it in this release.

So, what have we been doing, and what’s new in Vesta?

Vesta announces our CEG vote.

Today, Monday Sept. 23, Vesta is back up for a CEG vote. Once again we are asking for your help inVestas. Except this time it doesn’t cost you anything, not even gas!

What is CEG?

Community Ecosystem Governance – basically the way in which Metis allows the community to see which projects they’d like to see Metis collaborate with on social platforms.

Passing CEG

In order to pass CEG we need to “win” the vote (which we’re confident of) and also to pass #quorum# (which is slightly harder).

Passing quorum for Metis CEG requires that we get 10,000 tokens of total votes as well as votes from 500 individual wallets. Each of these wallets needs to have held metis in it prior to this week so no, we can’t just create a bunch of new ones.

Last time we passed by the first metric and narrowly missed by the second. So even if you have the tiniest amount of Metis, your vote matters!

What passing CEG will do for Vesta

First, it’s a “stamp of approval” from the greater Metis community, adding legitimacy to our brand.

It also opens the door to official “co-marketing” initiatives from Metis, meaning more eyes on our project.

Lastly, projects that pass CEG get to be on the Metis website under the “Ecosystem” tab, opening up an additional avenue of exposure for Vesta.

Basically, it’s super useful and might mean number goes up.

How you can help:

Voting

First of all you can help by voting. You can vote using METIS, artMETIS or seMETIS. Voting is completely free and does not even require a gas cost.

If you need a walkthrough, Vesta has you covered (as always).

Key Voting info:

Voting dates: Sep 23 – Sep 26

Engaging

In addition to voting it would be great if you could get out there and share the message. Everyone has one or two friends in the ecosystem, if everyone takes the time to convince one person to vote for us it cuts our challenge down by a lot.

Gitcoin Donation Round Update

With just a few days remaining to donate to VestaDAO on Gitcoin, this is our last official request for your financial support, which you’re probably relieved about.

What does this mean for Vesta?

Needless to say, getting our first source of funds will create a lot of opportunities. More funds = more opportunities = bigger chance number goes up.

If you’d like a breakdown on what our plans for any received money are you can find them here.

In addition to these funds, Cobi has also sold some of his personal stack of $VDAO to a couple individuals who believe in us; these funds will all go directly into creating a new liquidity pool regardless of how much matched funding we receive.

How can you help?

Donating

Each dollar donated by a unique user has the potential to be turned into hundreds of dollars of matched funding. If you cannot afford it we totally understand, but please don’t sleep on it because you’re feeling lazy.

If you’d like to donate to us during these last few days, you can do so  here.

If you get stuck you can check out our handy guide.

Engaging

Once again, people power goes a long way. As we said above, every donation of even a dollar has the potential to give substantial funds to our project. If everyone reading this convinced one new person to give a dollar, it would make a massive difference in us executing our vision.

What has Vesta been doing?

We appreciate that things have been crazy over the last month. As a result of this communication hasn’t been on point. We believe you deserve an explanation for this. Here is some of what we’ve been focussed on.

Learning Center:

The VestAcademy learning centre is currently live. You can find it by heading to learn.vdao.online

In its current form it is largely designed for those who are brand new to crypto. We view this as just the beginning of its journey. We hope to evolve the learning centre into not only a mechanism for onboarding new users to Metis, but also as a trusted one stop shop for those same users throughout their crypto careers. You can read about why we believe the learning centre is of value to both Metis and our holders here.

We have already started evolving our learning centre by providing helpful guides on more advanced concepts as well as specific Metis projects in our series “DeFi for Dummies”.

So far we’ve released:

DeFi for Dummies: Introduction

DeFi for Dummies: What is Liquidity?

DeFi for Dummies: Exploring DeFi Kingdoms

DeFi for Dummies: Deciphering Hercules

Call to action

The learning centre is usable but very much in beta. It has primarily had one person working on it so we expect a few things might have slipped through the net.

If you’d like to add to its value there’s a few things you can do:

  • Try it out yourself and send any feedback to @kehmor on telegram.
  • Post about it on social media

Or, most helpful of all

  • Encourage your normie friends to use it as intended.

Rebrand

If you’ve been on the Vesta site you’ll have noticed we have a brand new look. We were keen to give our project a decisive feel as well as give our depiction of ”Vesta” an overhaul.

This took a lot of back and forth, trial and error and a ton of arguing, but we’re incredibly happy with the results and believe that this will prove a huge benefit.

The rebrand is not complete yet and there are still a few parts of the main website especially that need touching up as a result.

Social expansion

During this Gitcoin process (and because we knew CEG would follow shortly) both Kehmor and Cobi have been ensuring that Vesta has been in front of as many eyes as possible. This has meant attending more spaces, exploring new partnerships, and generally being a nuisance.

We’re going to look to continue to have a strong presence in these spaces as we release our new material.

Call to action

We know it can feel like sharing content doesn’t achieve much. But when a project is as small as ours, even an extra 30 people seeing what we’re working on is substantial. Additionally every interaction with one of our tweets or webpages improves its social signals and makes it more likely that it will be put in front of other people. If you believe in what we’re creating, please help us share it with the world.

Did we miss something?

We do our best to stay informed on everything going on within the Metis ecosystem. That said, if we missed something, we’d love to know. You can find us on Telegram, Twitter, or by emailing us at team@vdao.online
